What is the Basic Membership Tier?
The Basic Member tier is a free membership level that offers limited access to selected NAFNP content and benefits. It’s designed to give prospective members a risk-free way to explore NAFNP and experience the value of our national community. Be sure to select 'Basic Member' from the 'Member Type' drop down on the registration form.

Why is NAFNP offering a free membership?
Just like popular freemium platforms such as Zoom, Dropbox, and Canva, we believe in building trust through experience. By offering a free tier, we invite every Family Nurse Practitioner to engage with NAFNP, discover its impact, and decide when they're ready to deepen their involvement.  Additionally, this new tier enables us to include FNPs that have experienced cuts to their support funds from their employers as well as students early in their FNP journey. 

Does this affect my paid membership?
Not at all. Paid members continue to receive full access to all premium benefits. The Basic tier is simply a way to welcome new members and expand our reach — it does not replace or reduce the value of paid membership.

What happens if I don’t renew my paid membership?
If your paid membership ends or you choose not to renew, you’ll automatically transition to the Basic tier. You’ll still retain limited access to selected content, but premium benefits will no longer be available until you rejoin as a paid member.

Can I encourage others to join as Basic Members?
Absolutely! Our motto is: “Every FNP. Every student. One united voice.”

Is the free ‘Basic Tier’ an appropriate option for FNP students?
Definitely! FNP students should be invited to claim their free membership. We currently serve many student members and are expanding our offerings to meet emerging needs throughout the FNP education journey.  We even plan to add a student-focused and run committee to support the development of student leaders and ensure that the needs of our student members are addressed effectively.
