“Tinnitus, a Phantom Sound” explores one of the most common—and often most frustrating—conditions seen in primary care. This evidence‑based session defines tinnitus and its key classifications, examines its impact on quality of life, and reviews the underlying pathophysiology and major risk factors.

Participants will learn practical diagnostic approaches and therapeutic management strategies, along with essential NP practice implications to improve patient outcomes and confidence in care.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

1. Define tinnitus and its classification

2. Discuss the impact of tinnitus on quality of life

3. Review the pathophysiology and risk factors of tinnitus

4. Outline diagnostic and therapeutic management strategies in the care of tinnitus

5. Discuss NP practice implications

It is the policy of the Interprofessional Continuing Education office at RUSH to ensure that its CE activities are independent, free of commercial bias.
